week 2 of lineage thangka

 basic body lines for the Buddhas of the Ten Directions

The Eight Great Bodhisattvas.

Drawing the ornaments and clothes. This is a bit of a challenge as i cannot see the details of the original thangka clearly, especially the hands and symbols; also i had difficulty identifying each Bodhisattva in the original thangka. I learned that there is no standard iconography for them and are sometimes depicted in various colours. I decided to not copy what i cannot clearly see so i researched the various ways these Eight Great Bodhisattvas are depicted in other thangkas.

its challenging to draw such tiny figures.

Green Tara seems to be the most popular yidam.

I think I must have painted more Taras than any other deity.
